ERB's Desi Urad Sabut Daal can be a light and easy dish as pulses are great to have for lunch. They are rich in nutrients, specially proteins and provide a whole meal that keeps you full. Organically grown desi Urad dal makes a great vegetarian/Indian meal since it is loaded with iron, vitamin B and other essential nutrients. Popular across the country from northern to southern region, this daal is used in making a host of other recipes like dal makhani and vada. Here is a quick, simple and easy recipe.

Urad Sabut Daal Recipe:

1. Soak our desi urad dal in water for fifteen minutes and drain.
 
2. Heat desi ghee in a pan. Add the dal and fry it.
 
3. Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix it well with half a cup of water. Now add milk and simmer for ten minutes.
 
4. Put ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, red chillies, garlic, ginger, onion, chilli powder and salt. When done, add it to the dal and cook for some time.
 
5.  Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot. Your desi urad daal is ready to eat!!

How to Use - 

Urad Sabut is the main ingredient in the very famous Indian Daal Makhni. There are different ways of making it. We suggest that you refer to any popular you tube channels on cooking adn pick your favourite.
One important FACT - this name - Daal Makhni is so because of the buttery texture that this Urad Sabut produces when cooked properly. Its NOT because Makkhan or Butter is added in its preparation.
